Never doubt what can be done because all he did was sell DVDs of that seminar, and it put him on the map. So the result of that is his audience took him much more seriously. Pagan has always maintained that doing that seminar was one of the smartest things he could have ever done.
It is human nature to give someone more credence when you think they are an expert, opposed to when they are not. Usually, it is the expert, or someone who is a movie star, who is going to have the largest following on Twitter. By having the same type of reputation, you could achieve similar results as these people. A website with content representing your expertise is something you will need. You will then have to represent yourself as an expert at that point. Afterwards, you have to show people that you are an expert after claiming to be one. One thing about Twitter and getting the attention of people is you have to be outspoken. Although you could rant and rave like a lunatic, by just being bold and steadfast, your popularity will grow. You need to talk about the things that matter to people, that are relevant to your audience in your niche. It is not enough to be bold just for the sake of being bold. The issues that are important to your audience, you have to be bold about those. Then you can send them to your content which is where you will need to support your claims that got their attention in the first place.
One of the best ways to make the media aware of you is to use press releases. However, you need to have something worth publishing, and there’s nothing more effective than taking an active role in something. There are a thousand ways to get involved with charities, religious groups, community special services, etc. You can send a message to the editor and express your views on something important to people. Communicate with the local media regularly and issue press releases all the time. The more you do, the more attention it will get, and you also have the option of communicating and partnering with other businesses via the Chamber of Commerce.
Methinks the vast majority of online marketers will not do any of these suggestions and for a variety of reasons – which is fine. If you’re willing to try them, though, you’ll find that they can really help your business get more publicity. Take one step at a time and you’ll find they aren’t so hard after all. It’s up to you whether you want to make your business more newsworthy or if you’re content to stay hidden.
