The Midwife Center for Birth & Women's Health is southwestern Pennsylvania's only licensed and accredited freestanding birth center offering well woman gynecological care, prenatal care and childbirth in a warm and supportive birth center. Our goal is to provide safe and satisfying care that is personalized to meet the need of the woman and her family. Our staff is guided by the philosophy that a woman should be in control of her own health care, including her birth experience.
The mission of The Midwife Center is to provide exceptional woman-centered pregnancy, birth, and well-woman care in an independent birth center in Southwestern Pennsylvania. Since 1982, The Midwife Center has welcomed over 4,000 into the world. The Midwife Center reincorporated as a nonprofit practice in 2000 in order to be able to serve more women without adequate insurance.
Every woman who seeks care at The Midwife Center for Birth & Women's Health will discover the distinctive benefits of our woman-centered care. Our midwives, nurses, and nurse practitioner consider themselves partners with their clients in the health care process and work to ensure personalized care.
The Center welcomes not only expectant mothers; our providers offer well-woman care to all women, puberty through menopause. We believe that pregnancy, childbirth, adolescence and menopause are natural processes. Our approach fosters a close relationship between midwife and client that is mutually enriching and informative.
